I think Cherry genuinely loved Daniel despite her ambition for his lifestyle, or perhaps he was just a necessary step on her ladder to success? What say you?

I didn’t read the book, but I watched the series on Prime, all 6 episodes. Definitely fun to watch.
First of all, I think Cherry was wildly attracted to Daniel, but not really in love. She made questionable moves during the series, but I don’t believe she would have intentionally hurt Daniel. I get why Laura was concerned about Cherry’s temper. It was on a whole other level. Daniel was supposed to be a doctor. So, why didn’t he move Heaven and earth to save his mother’s life when she appeared to have drowned in the pool?
